RMR Biological Dentistry: balance between mouth, breathing and posture
At Moma Clinic we understand the mouth as an essential gateway to overall health. It is not just a space where teeth and gums are, but a functional center that directly influences breathing, posture, musculature, digestion and the general balance of the body. With MMR Biological Dentistry (Masticatory-Respiratory Rehabilitation) we work to restore these basic functions —breathing, chewing and swallowing— so that they can function naturally, efficiently and in a coordinated way.
What is RMR Biological Dentistry?
- A system that seeks to restore the vital functions of the mouth so that they positively influence the rest of the body.
- We work on breathing, chewing and swallowing as key areas for general well-being.
- We consider the mouth as a structure interconnected with the neck, posture, skull, nervous system and the way the body moves and regulates itself.
How the mouth affects the entire body system
- A lowered or poorly positioned tongue strains the neck, alters posture and can cause craniocervical tension.
- Mouth breathing reduces oxygenation, promotes inflammation and affects sleep quality.
- A misaligned jaw can cause muscle pain, headaches and postural imbalances.
- When we improve these functions from the mouth, the body regains stability, energy and harmony.
Overall benefits of RMR treatment
- Improvement of nasal breathing and reduction of snoring or chronic fatigue.
- More balanced posture and reduction in cervical, cranial or mandibular tension.
- More efficient digestive system thanks to proper chewing.
- Increase in vital energy and general feeling of well-being.
- Better sleep quality and regulation of the nervous system.
Who is this treatment for?
- People with mouth breathing, snoring or difficulty breathing through the nose.
- Patients with bruxism, jaw tension, headaches or neck pain.
- Children with facial development problems, atypical swallowing or malocclusions.
- Adults seeking systemic improvement and a holistic health approach.
How we work with RMR at Moma Clinic
- Comprehensive assessment of mouth, breathing, posture and neuromuscular function.
- Reeducation of dysfunctional habits and personalized functional exercises.
- Respectful treatments, biocompatible materials and minimally invasive approach.
- Coordinated work with physiotherapy, posturology or other specialties when necessary.
- Progressive support to achieve real, deep and lasting improvement.
When the mouth is not working well, the entire body system can suffer: the tongue can adopt an incorrect position, the jaw becomes misaligned, breathing becomes mouth-breathing, the neck tenses and the body loses stability. Through RMR, we help reverse these imbalances so that each structure returns to its place and recovers its natural role within the body.
This approach does not just seek to improve oral health; its impact is profound and holistic. When we restore proper nasal breathing, functional chewing and correct swallowing, oxygenation increases, posture improves, muscle tension decreases, the nervous system is regulated and the body regains energy and vitality. That is why we say that we “improve the health of the whole body from the mouth”.
Our way of working is personalized and respectful of each person's biology. We carry out a complete assessment of the mouth, but also of breathing, tongue position, muscle tone, body posture and daily habits. From there, we create a specific plan that combines functional reeducation techniques, biocompatible materials and, when necessary, collaboration with other professionals such as physiotherapists or posture specialists.
Our goal is for each patient to recover internal harmony, overall well-being and a body system that works coherently, fluidly and healthily. When the mouth functions as it should, the whole organism notices it: we breathe better, rest better, move better and feel better.
ALPH technique:
oral microstimulations for overall body balance
At Moma Clinic we integrate the ALPH technique as part of our global approach, because we understand that the mouth is a key structure that affects the entire body. ALPH are small sensory microstimulations applied to the oral cavity that, in a non-invasive way, send information to the neuromuscular system and the brain to restore body function and balance.
What are ALPHs?
- They are sensory microstimulations applied painlessly to the mouth that seek to modify oral and bodily perception.
- They are made with small, almost invisible composite reliefs, adhered to teeth in a non-invasive way.
- Its function is to send stimuli through the receptors of the tongue, lips and oral mucosa to the brain.
How they work on a physiological level
- ALPH® act as sensory stimuli that regulate neuromuscular activation.
- When oral receptors detect these stimuli, signals are sent through the trigeminal nerve to adjust muscle tone.
- This contributes to better tonic symmetry, synchronization of respiratory rhythm and general regulation of the neuromuscular system.
General benefits that we can observe
- Reduction of muscle tension and postural imbalances.
- Improvement of respiratory synchronization and neuromotor function.
- It can provide benefits in cases of headaches, cervicalgias or body instability.
- A positive impact on cognitive and motor functions has also been observed, depending on sensory integration.
How we approach ALPH at Moma Clinic
- We perform a comprehensive sensory and postural evaluation to identify oral and body imbalances.
- We determine the precise placement of the ALPH stimuli according to the needs of each patient.
- We use this technique as part of a broader treatment that may include RMR, reeducation exercises and neuromuscular coordination.
- We support the patient in a comprehensive manner so that the effects are not only temporary, but stable and aimed at lasting functional improvement.
This innovative technique, developed by Dr. Alfredo Marino, has been used for decades and has been applied in thousands of cases with clinical results that go beyond oral health. ALPHs are strategically placed on dental surfaces with materials similar to those used in conventional dentistry, but with the aim of generating sensory stimuli that modify the input of signals to the brain and promote better regulation of muscle tone, breathing and postural activity.
Through these microstimulations, we can influence the way the nervous system processes oral sensation and proprioception, helping to correct imbalances that can manifest as neck pain, postural tensions, instability or difficulties in respiratory synchronization. This sensory regulation not only improves the functional oral response, but can have direct positive effects on body balance, postural awareness and general motor function.
Our approach with ALPH is integrated and personalized: after a detailed assessment of oral and body posture, we decide where and how to apply these microstimuli to correct sensory perceptions that affect the overall function of your body. This translates into a more balanced body, with less tension and a better relationship between mouth, breathing and posture.
FAQS
Here you will find clear and precise answers to the most common questions about our services, treatments and procedures. We are here to provide you with all the information you need to make informed decisions about your dental health and well-being.
Are Moma Clinic services included in the CASS?
All stipulated conservative services are included in the CASS:
- Visit
- Cleaning
- Fillings
- Endodontics
- X-rays
- Extractions
- Orthodontics is accepted by CASS for children under 16 years of age
- Prostheses are accepted by CASS
What doesn't go through CASS?
Everything related to holistic dentistry is not included (Alphs, postural studies, postural therapy...). Aesthetic treatments are not included (whitening, cavities...). Implants are not accepted for CASS.
Orthodontics for children up to 16 years old is included.
Do I have to pay 100%?
- If you are under 65 years old, you must pay 100% of the price of the treatment and later the CASS will refund 75%. The other 25% will depend on whether the patient has complementary insurance.
- If you have the third payer (100% CASS), you will not have to pay anything for the conservative treatments that come through the CASS.
This management is direct, the patient does not have to do anything.
In orthodontic treatments, fixed and/or removable prostheses, the patient must know the conditions of their insurance.
What should I do with the green sheet? (CASS request)
Green forms are requests to the CASS with a favourable or unfavourable response. The form must be deposited in the CASS mailbox or in any pharmacy mailbox (the process will always be quicker if it is deposited directly at the CASS).
The response reaches the clinic and the patient is notified to organize the treatment. Sometimes, CASS makes an appointment with the patient before deciding on a response and you must keep an eye on your mailbox at home.
What are the Alphas?
They are stimuli attached to the front teeth that change the sensory perception of our mouth and help us improve posture, tension... Previously tested by carrying out a postural study. These are previously tested stimuli.
